MARIE OSMOND has  fallen for a hot new guy – married “Les Miserables” superstar Hugh Jackman.

When the handsome actor showed up for his Feb. 25 interview on her new talk show, “Marie actually swooned and practically melted into the floor,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.

“She fawned all over Hugh during the interview, and the entire crew noticed she was sitting on the edge of the couch as close as she could get to him. You could cut the  sexual tension with a knife!”

The 53-year-old married mother of eight was so enthralled by Hugh’s appearance that afterward she gushed on Twitter: “Just finished interviewing my dream guest.”

Her attraction goes far deeper than the actor’s striking good looks.

“THEY SHARE A LOVE FOR musical theater,” said the source. “Singing and dancing are Marie’s whole life. They bonded over the way they both feel so alive while performing on stage.” The source adds that Marie’s teen-like crush is “very amusing” to the 44-year-old “X-Men” hunk, who’s been happily wed to Deborra- Lee Furness, 56, for nearly 17 years. “He’s used to the catnip effect he has on women,” confided the source.

But for Marie, her playful fantasy about Hugh – a dad of two adopted kids – is a welcome relief from the turmoil in her own life.

As The ENQUIRER revealed in early February, her SECOND marriage to FIRST husband Stephen Craig is on shaky ground because of her career obsession and workaholic ways.

Demand for her public appearances has never been greater, and in addition to television, Marie also headlines a sell-out show at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel with her brother Donny.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY FOR the busy entertainer, her Hallmark Channel interview with Hugh could be the closest she gets to the heartthrob.

“Stephen is very jealous,” revealed the source. “After he learns how much his wife is into Hugh, I wouldn’t be surprised if Stephen bans him from an encore.”
