Mom of eight MARIE OSMOND has adopted again  BUT this time it’s a puppy!

And she snapped up the lovable mutt because he reminded her of her dad!

The big-hearted singer recently fell for the rescue pooch at a Fashion for Paws show to benefit the Washington, D.C., Humane Society.

The attraction was instant, say sources, after Marie learned the pup’s name was George, the same as her beloved father, who died in 2007 at the age of 90.

“Marie was immediately drawn to George because he made her think of the father she idolized,” revealed an insider.

“Her kids had been asking for a puppy for a long time, and they are crazy about George.”

The 52-year-old entertainer was so excited about her new family member that she immediately tweeted: “Looks like my kids are getting a new best friend…It’s George!! Cute, right?”

MARIE still has four children living at home with her and husband Stephen Craig. She married Stephen for the second time in May 2011. They first wed in June 1982 but divorced three years later.

Last May, The ENQUIRER revealed the couple was hoping to adopt a child. But those plans were put on hold because of Marie’s heavy workload.

And for now, it looks like she’s content to pamper her new tail-wagger.

“Since she’s adopted the pup, Marie hasn’t put him down,” said the insider.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if she brings George onstage as a joke at her Las Vegas show when her brother Donny sings ‘Puppy Love.’ ”
