GIANT star ELIZABETH TAYLOR’s family furious at puny thesp!
Elizabeth Taylor’s family and friends are furious that America’s favorite hot mess Lindsay Lohan has been cast to play the screen goddess in a TV movie, insiders say.
The 25-year-old “Mean Girls” star will portray the iconic actress – who passed away at age 79 in March 2011 – in “Liz & Dick,” a Lifetime movie about her torrid affair with actor Richard Burton during the filming of “Cleopatra.”
“Liz’ sons, Michael and Chris Wilding, feel there are many other actresses who are far more qualified to play their famous mother,” a family friend told The ENQUIRER.
“They think gorgeous and talented stars such as Cate Blanchett or Emily Blunt should have been short-listed for the role. Liz’s children feel their mom deserved better!”
While Liz won two Academy Awards and was widely recognized as one of the world’s great beauties in her heyday, “Freaky Friday” star Lindsay is more famous for her rap sheet, drinking, drugging and sticky fingers.
Since her first DUI bust in May 2007, the hard-partying starlet has done five different stints in rehab for cocaine and alcohol abuse, and she served 13 days behind bars on a probation violation.
Lindsay faced felony theft charges last year for allegedly lifting a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store.
She’s also allegedly pinched a $400,000 necklace from a 2009 photo shoot, a $12,000 fur coat from a Big Apple night club in 2008, and a $35,000 Rolex from a friend in 2010. No charges were ever filed in any of the incidents.
“Liz was not only a great movie star, but a great philanthropist, and it’s a slap in the face to her memory to have this errant party girl play her,” huffed the family friend. “She’d be screaming bloody murder over this whole fiasco!”
