ASHTON KUTCHER caught in sh*tstorm of controversy after he Tweets support of JOE PATERNO as child abuse scandal explodes!

Paterno, 84, had had a successful 46-year coaching career at Penn State, was fired Wednesday amid a shocking child-abuse sex scandal  along with President Graham Spanier.

The firings came in the aftermath of former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky being charged by cops with 40 counts of sexual abuse of children.

Paterno has been criticized for failing to contact authorities when he was first learned about possible sexual misconduct by Sandusky nine years ago.

"How do you fire Jo Pa?  #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste," Kutcher Tweeted to his 8.3 million Twitter followers.

TheTwit’s Tweet  instantly set off a barrage of responses from people not only slamming him but  calling him "idiot" and "ignorant," The Hollywood Reporter revealed.

"Today's lesson? @aplusk Think (get facts) before you tweet! #yikes,” wrote Laurie Good.

Added Nate Miller: "F— you. He covered up child rape you sick, geriatric f—."

Tommie Sunshine Tweeted: "With 8 million followers, you MAY want to reserve your opinions until you know the whole story.”

Media savvy Kutcher claims he wasn't aware of the facts.

Ashton deleted his original tweet 30 minutes later and then tweeted: "Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes"

Meanwhile, incensed Penn State students rioted on campus last night.

Note to Kutch – think before you Tweet.

UPDATE: Kutcher has handed over his Twitter account to his production team.
