Kristin Cavallari took to Instagram to express her grief over the death of older brother, Michael, by posting a photo of them from when they were tiny children along with a tearful note.
“My heart is in a million pieces,” Kristin, 28, wrote. “Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I’m at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP,” she wrote next to the adorable pic.
Earlier in the day, the reality TV star and wife of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler announced Michael’s death.
“We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. We have just been informed by the authorities my brother’s body has been found,” Kristin said in a statement. “This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.”
Later in the day, the Grand County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a body had been recovered in Utah.
“At approximately 10:30 a.m. search crews located remains believed to be that of Michael Cavallari,” said a statement from the county. “At this time, the body is being transported to the Office of the Utah Medical Examiner for positive identification and to determine the cause of death.
“The search crews were searching the Salt Wash area, near exit 175 on I-70 in Grand County. The terrain where the body was located is a steep and very rocky area.”
Michael’s body was discovered by police nearly two weeks after his car was found abandoned and still running by the side of I-70 in Utah. He was last seen on security camera footage at a convenience store in Monticello, Utah.
As The National ENQUIRER reported, Michael, 30, was arrested Nov. 23 in California on gun charges and released on bail.
