KATIE HOLMES wants a spot on “Dancing with the Stars,” and she’s being urged to go for it by her No. 1 fan – 6-year-old daughter Suri.
Insiders say it may be the perfect vehicle to super-charge Katie’s career, which has been in a tailspin since her August divorce from Tom Cruise.
“Katie and Suri are huge fans of ‘Dancing’ and watch it every week,” revealed a close source. “They’ve really bonded as mother and daughter over the show and dance in general. Suri has been prodding her mom to join the series. Katie figures if she doesn’t manage to land a spot on the upcoming season, she’ll try for the next. After going through her stressful divorce, competing on the show would be like therapy for her and it will keep Suri entertained at the same time.”
The 34-year-old divorcee’s latest venture, the Broadway show “Dead Accounts,” bombed, closing its doors on Jan. 6.
AND AS THE ENQUIRER recently reported, Katie is so despondent over her sputtering acting career that she’s considering changing professions and going to law school.
“She feels that a stint on ‘Dancing’ would charm the public and kick-start her showbiz career,” said the source.
Talented Katie might easily waltz her way to victory. She’s already an accomplished dancer who’s worked extensively with renowned choreographer Tyce Diorio. She also partnered up with “Dancing” judge Carrie Ann Inaba and others to found a dance scholarship fund called the Dizzy Feet Foundation.
