The Royals hid a startling secret during their recent visit to Hollywood – PRINCE WILLIAM’s wife KATE MIDDLETON has a silver-screen queen in her family tree!
Silent movie star Mary Glynne, an ancestor of William’s wife Kate Middleton, even made films titled “The Princess of New York” and “Regal Cavalcade”!
Glynne was married to British actor Dennis Neilson-Terry, who was related to Kate’s fighter-pilot grandfather Peter Middleton, according to royal biographer Christopher Wilson.
“After marrying his wife Valerie in 1946, Peter Middleton became related to the famed British acting family the Terrys,” said Wilson, who researched Kate’s family tree.
“Through Valerie, Peter Middleton counted a host of decorated actors and actresses, including acclaimed Shakespearean actress Dame Ellen Terry, among his extended family.”
Kate – who’s also related to Madonna’s ex-husband, British movie director Guy Ritchie – was overjoyed to find out about her Hollywood connection through Glynne, sources say.
“Before she married Prince William, Kate began researching her family history,” another royal insider told The ENQUIRER.
“She soon discovered that her mother’s family had a long line of famous thesps including Sir John Gielgud and his great aunt, British stage actress Ellen Terry.”
But it was Kate’s connection to Mary Glynne, who starred in the long-lost 1921 crime caper “The Princess of New York,” that really piqued her interest.
Mary appeared in 23 films between 1919 and 1939 and became close chums with Hollywood legends Charlie Chaplin and Cary Grant.
“Kate found out that Mary and her husband had a daughter named Hazel Terry, who also became a film actress,” said Wilson.
“Hazel’s first husband was British actor Geoffrey Keen, who’s best known for playing the Minister of Defense in several James Bond films.
“When she met William and they were discussing their respective families, she told him,
‘You may have kings and queens in your family – but I have movie stars in mine!’ ”
