Catwoman supreme JULIE NEWMAR thinks the Dark Knight BATMAN is way too dark and is a real downer!

And Julie, 78, ought to know.  She originated the role of the Princess of Plunder in 1966 on the classic “Batman” TV show with Adam West and Burt Ward as her adversaries the Caped Crusaders.

"It's dark," she said on "The Yo SHow".  "I think we had so much fun in the ‘60s, 1966 to 1968.

“And then Vietnam came and things sort of got darker and darker and darker."

Now, we have never-ending wars that no one talks about.

She also thinks the outfits are kind of clunky that Batman wears now – all thick Goodyear tire and no pizazz.

"What with all the costumes that they have to wear now, there's a lot that you can't see anymore. You know, when you have everything sort of padded out and very macho and all that kind of thing.

“It's as if the costume acts for you."

Julie was poured into her costume which accentuated every curve of her stunning figure and then she added her own immortal flourish – a gold belt tied around her hips.
