Joe Jackson — who launched Michael Jackson into stardom while managing his children in The Jackson 5 — has passed away at the age of 89 years old.
But, despite years of vicious family feuds, the pop patriarch was still visited in his final days by family members, including Joe’s estranged wife Katherine, daughter Rebbie, and Jermaine Jackson.
The ENQUIRER was first to reveal that Joe had been diagnosed with “aggressive” cancer at the end of 2017. The health crisis soon had him trying to make amends with his famous children, with Joe pleading to be buried next to Michael. Joe’s body was found in his Las Vegas home on the morning of June 27.
The controversial showbiz legend made millions overseeing the rise of his sons in the Jackson 5, but was also later regularly blasted for being abusive to the future superstars. Michael himself said, “If you didn’t do it the right way, he would tear you up — really get you.”
Joe’s children included daughters Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet Jackson — along with his sons Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy.
But despite the final family visits, one insider doubted that Joe would get his final wish to be buried near Michael’s grave at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
Remembering the years of bad blood between Michael and his father, the insider said: “Michael wouldn’t want Joe’s resting place anywhere near his own!”
