That took long enough! After more than five years of secretly dating, Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes finally made their love public at a major event.

The couple, who have never publicly confirmed they were together, arrived at the annual Met Gala together on Monday, May 6, in New York City. The actress, 40, was draped in a curve-hugging royal purple gown with a fuchsia-colored 3-D printed palm leaf collar by Zac Posen. The actor, 51, wore a slick black suit also by Posen, paired with purple shoes that perfectly matched the actress’s dress.

Though the two rode with the designer to the A-list event, the hush-hush couple did not pose on the pink carpet together. Instead, the Dawson’s Creek alum struck a pose with the 38-year-old former Project Runway judge, who also matched with the actress in a lush purple suit jacket.

While Foxx and Holmes didn’t get cozy on the carpet, the secretive lovebirds did show some affection inside the museum. The pair smiled for photos together in front of a pink wall of roses, with Oscar-winning actor draping his arm around Holmes’ waist.

Since their romance began, the two have taken great pains to keep things under wraps. Holmes, who has opted to stay under the radar since her high profile marriage to Tom Cruise imploded in 2012, even snuck around in disguises to meet up with her new boyfriend, Us Weekly, which broke the news of the unexpected romance, reported. In recent years, the duo have been a little more lax with putting their love on display, sometimes holding hands while in public.

Though the two have been together for years, don’t expect them to take things to the next step just yet. “Katie and Jamie live a very private lifestyle and intend to keep it that way,” one insider snitched to Us Weekly. “They don’t plan on getting engaged anytime soon because they’re happy with how things are right now.”
