Rest in peace. The owners of the internet famous Grumpy Cat took to Twitter on Friday, May 17 to reveal that the beloved pet sadly died. “Some days are grumpier than others…,” the wrote on the social media platform.
“We are unimaginably heartbroken to announce the loss of our beloved Grumpy Cat,” the full statement read. “Despite care from top professionals, as well as from her very loving family, Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection that unfortunately became too tough for her to overcome. She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha.”

“Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world — even when times were tough. Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere,” the note continued.
Back in 2012, Grumpy Cat became famous when his owner posted a photo of him on Reddit that went viral. She was named The Most Influential Cat by MSNBC that same year. Grumpy has also posed with iconic celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Stan Lee, Andy Cohen and more.
Grumpy also appeared on Today, Good Morning America, American Idol and The Bachelorette. In 2016, Grumpy also appeared in Cats on Broadway.
