“Desperate” EVA ready to throw hat into the political ring and face down the GOP, say sources.

ASHLEY JUDD isn’t the only gorgeous actress who’s aiming for a career in Washington – sources say her close pal EVA LONGORIA is also considering a run for office!

Rumors have been swirling that Ashley will soon announce her plans to seek a U.S. Senate seat in Kentucky in 2014 – and Eva, who’s already one of Hollywood’s biggest political activists, is so inspired that she’s now thinking about running for the U.S. House of Representatives.

“EVA RESPECTS ASHLEY FOR wanting to make a difference,” a friend said. “The two of them have talked about it, and they’d love to storm Washington together!”

Even though Ashley has not made a final decision regarding her political aspirations, the Republican Party has already launched TV ads in the Bluegrass State labeling the 44-year-old actress an “Obama-following Hollywood liberal.” The ads also poke fun of the potential Democratic challenger for running in Kentucky, where she spent most of her childhood, rather than Tennessee, the state she currently calls home.

Eva, 37, could also face GOP attacks if she runs. The beauty served as a co-chair of President Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012 and spoke at the Democratic National Convention last summer. According to the source, she’s already been in contact with officials in the Democratic Party about running for a congressional seat in her native Texas.

“Eva and Ashley have talked openly about heading to Washington together and shaking things up,” added the source. “And the Democratic National Committee is ready to pump millions into their campaigns.

“There’s some bias against actors that they’ll have to overcome, but they figure if Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger could do it, so can they!”
