GERARD BUTLER’s mom is tired of waiting for more grandchildren and telling her love-’em-and-leave-’em son to quit fooling around and propose to his girlfriend of a year, Romanian-born model Madalina Ghenea.
Margaret Butler, who already has four granddaughters, wants Gerard, 43, and the 24-year-old beauty to give her another baby to spoil, say sources.
“Gerard took Madalina home to Scotland to meet his mother over Christmas,” revealed an insider. “Margaret feels she’s a sweet, down-to-earth girl, who makes her son very happy.
“She doesn’t understand the marriage hold-up.”
Gerard’s devoted mom has been after the “Olympus Has Fallen” star to settle down for years, and she had hoped he had finally found Miss Right when he was seeing Jennifer Aniston.
“BUT just as Margaret invited Jen to visit her in Scotland, Gerard announced they’d broken up,” said the insider.
The 6-foot-2 hunk rarely introduces his dates to his mom, but when she got to meet Madalina, the ladies really hit it off.
“They have been keeping in touch with e-mails and texts since the first of the year,” revealed the insider.
In early April, Gerard and Madalina were spotted in Rome together, following the Italian premiere of “Olympus.”
The happy pair were photographed gazing adoringly at each other as they visited the Coliseum and other tourist sites.
Although the relationship has been humming along smoothly, the “300” star has previously been linked to a long string of stunning women, including Jessica Biel, “Twilight Saga” actress Ashley Greene, models Sarah Carroll and Nicole Trunfio, and reality TV star Brandi Glanville.
“Gerard’s mom knows her son is famous for loving and leaving them,” said the insider. “But his family hopes he’ll be popping the big question to Madalina any day now.”
