THE ENQUIRER FIRST WITH COURIC/CBS COLLAPSE — SHOCKING NEW DETAILS!

description

For months The ENQUIRER has been reporting the flameout between CBS and Katie Couric with the inside scoop you won’t get anywhere else!

In the May 27, 2007 edition of The ENQUIRER we revealed that Katie C. had lost over 120,000 viewers since she replaced vet anchor Bob Schieffer after Dan Rather‘s departure.

A bitter Schieffer, who acts nice to Katie on the air, has actually been undermining her credibility with a backstage whispering campaign.

Struggling with plummeting ratings and in-house dirty pool, Couric tearfully sobbed to a pal, "I made a big mistake."

The ENQUIRER (July 2, 2007) then broke the exclusive that Couric hit breaking point — an emotional basket case.

"I can’t take it anymore — I want out!" she cried desperately, according to a source, as critics circled, pecking away at Couric’s once invincible armor.

"Katie Couric is an expensive, unfixable mistake," wrote TV critic Gail Shister of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

CBS chief executive Les Moonves had defended Katie, praising her as the nation’s first solo network anchor.

"I’m sort of surprised by the vitriol against her," Moonves had stated. "The number of people who don’t want news from a woman was startling."

That’s what CBS said then.

Now all bets are off.
