Just because Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is behind bars does not mean he can’t dip his toes into the fashion world, and that’s exactly what he’s planning on doing along with his 29-year-old wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro.
According to the New York Daily News, the pair are working together on creating clothing with the brand name, get this, “El Chapo.” The creative juices were really flowing on this one…
The outlet reveals that the infamous Mexican drug lord, 61, has signed a contract giving rights to his name and signature to a new company that his much younger wife will run, titled: El Chapo Guzman: JGL LLC. Aispuro explains that her husband’s signature will actually be part of the brand logo, so you know it’s legit.
“This project is an idea Joaquin and I have had for a long time. Before he was in the USA we talked a lot about this topic,” Aispuro said. “Really, it’s both of our ideas.” Well, this is one way to keep the spark alive.
The controversial lovebirds, who have been married since 2007 and have two 7-year-old twin daughters, aren’t the only ones in the family wanting to take the fashion designing route, as Alejandrina Gisselle Guzman, one of El Chapo’s 10 kids, actually launched her own El Chapo clothing line in February.
If you’re interested in purchasing any of El Chapo and Aispuro’s new clothes, just know that it will be sold online, and will include branded t-shirts, jeans, dress shirts, shoes, liquor, and even sombreros, because if you’ve gone this far you may as well go all in.
A site set up earlier this month describes the criminal as a “humble seller of oranges with many goals and great ambition” — and that may or may not be the first line on his updated resume.
