Accused wife killer DREW PETERSON wants ROB LOWE biopic flick to stop – OR ELSE!
Peterson, the former cop charged with the drowning murder of his third wife is threatening legal action to halt production of a movie in which he’s played by the “Parks and Recreation” star.
Peterson, 57, who’s also a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy, claims that Lowe and the Lifetime TV producers have no right to profit from his infamous name.
“It’s almost funny – Drew’s name is mud, but he still doesn’t want them to make money out of it if he’s not getting a payday,” a source close to the case told The ENQUIRER.
Lowe, 47, had already filmed several scenes of “Ladykiller: The Drew Peterson Story” before the threatened lawsuit demanded that the project be halted.
Peterson was a sergeant in the Bolingbrook, Ill., police department when Stacy vanished in October 2007. As an intensive search went on for the 23-year-old, disturbing details surrounding the death of Peterson’s third wife, Kathleen Savio, began to emerge.
After exhuming Kathleen’s body, prosecutors concluded that her death – originally labeled an accident – was a homicide staged to look like an accident.
In May 2009, Peterson was charged with Kathleen’s murder and he remains in jail awaiting trial. Meanwhile, legal experts predict Drew can’t stop the movie.
Media attorney Thomas Leavens notes that the producers wisely based the film on a book that Peterson never took legal action against.
“It’s so outrageous,” said the source about the suit. “I don’t think Rob Lowe will be losing any sleep over it!”
