DENNIS QUAID‘s confession about his shocking over-the-top cocaine habit that made CHARLIE SHEEN look like an amateur.
“The Right Stuff” star — who’s been open about his battle with the illicit narcotic in the past — admitted it was easy to get hooked because cocaine was used as “petty cash” in the movie industry and that the white powder was “even in the budgets of movies, thinly disguised.”
“My greatest mistake was being addicted to cocaine,” Quaid told Newsweek.
“Doing blow just contributed to me not being able to handle all that fame, which, at the time, I guess I felt I didn’t deserve.”
Quaid earned a rep as a Hollywood bad boy as a result of his coke addiction – but it was just a big cover up for the mess that his private life had become as his marriage to “When Harry Met Sally” star MEG RYAN disintegrated.
“I’d wake up, snort a line, and swear I wasn’t going to do it again that day… Meanwhile, my life was falling apart.”
Quaid overcame his drug demons and rebuilt his career.
