DAVY JONES to be cremated after funeral as surviving MONKEES skip services.

Funeral services for the late Jones, 66, were slated to be held today after the pop icon suffered a fatal heart attack in Florida last week.

Micky Dolenz said he and his fellow Monkees were not going to attend out of respect for Jones’ family.

"My understanding is they want to avoid a media circus and … the family wants to keep it very, very low-key and very, very private," Micky said.

"And you can imagine as soon as one or two or any of us were to show up, it would very quickly be degraded into something that I don't think his immediate family would want to deal with."

Public memorials were being planned for New York City and England, Micky confirmed, adding he hoped it would bring the surviving Monkees,  Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith, together in remembrance of their fallen comrade.
