Behind the glitz and glamour of the 49th Annual Country Music Association Awards, the stars have dirtied their names in sleazy scandals involving cheating, drugs, booze and violence. Here’s a look at the tawdry tales.
Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton
The Nov. 4 CMAs marked the first public appearance of this former high-profile couple since they announced their divorce in late July. “The Voice” coach — a nominee in the Male Vocalist and Musical Event of the Year categories — denied reports he’d strayed. Miranda also was labeled a cheater, according to sources. And both she and Blake engaged in booze-fueled fights during their marriage. By the way, “Little Red Wagon” singer Miranda was nominated for four awards — Entertainer, Female Vocalist, Musical Event and Music Video of the Year.
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
Substance abuse and cheating allegations nearly derailed Keith’s marriage to film beauty Nicole Kidman! Barely four months after they wed in June 2006, the singer checked into rehab — his third time — at the Betty Ford Center. Six months after their marriage, lingerie model Amanda Wyatt claimed she’d slept with Keith during his engagement to Nicole. Keith, nominated for Musical Event of the Year with “Raise ’Em Up,” and Nicole are parents to two girls.
Kenny Chesney
Not even an Oscar-winning beauty could keep Kenny — a nominee for Entertainer, Single, Album and Musical Event of the Year — faithful! Just nine days before he wed cutie Renée Zellweger in May 2005, his stripper ex-girlfriend Lindsey Roland claimed they had a secret rendezvous! Renée filed for an annulment four months later, accusing Kenny of fraud. Kenny also reportedly cheated on girlfriend Amy Colley with ESPN’s Jenn Brown in Cancun, Mexico.
Willie Nelson
He’s battled marijuana and tax busts, but it was Willie’s womanizing that nearly put him six feet under! Second wife Shirley Collie flipped out when she learned he was expecting a baby with another woman. Shirley cornered him with a gun and threatened to blow him away. Now 82, Willie was nominated in the Musical Event of the Year category.
Jason Aldean
The “Old Boots, New Dirt” singer fell for his personal “American Idol” — and it cost him $20 million! The Album of the Year nominee filed for divorce in April 2013 from Jessica Ussery, mother of his two young daughters, after he was caught smooching sexy “Idol” contestant Brittany Kerr. The split was finalized soon after, and Jason wed Brittany in March 2015.
Garth Brooks
Monogamy was never Garth’s strong suit! Back in 1993 the Entertainer of the Year nominee confessed to Barbara Walters that he’d cheated on then-wife Sandy Mahl. Garth was often linked to also-married country star Trisha Yearwood. In 1999 he walked out on Sandy, hoping to win Trisha. But as The ENQUIRER reported, Trisha turned him down. Both eventually divorced their spouses, however, and tied the knot in 2005.
