After flirting with an alternative treatment in Mexico that made things physically worse for him, Charlie Sheen is back on his regimen of HIV medication as of yesterday.

Sheen announced on “The Dr. Oz Show” that he had stopped taking his medication for four weeks in order to experiment with an unorthodox cure, but it did not work — the viral load in his blood increased significantly.

“He was back on his meds within hours of finding out his viral load had gone up,” Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, told The Wrap. “The only way Charlie could test the (Mexican) doctor’s theory was to get off his medication.”

Despite the disappointment with this alternative treatment, the manager said Sheen is still game for more experimentation.

“We’ve received calls from 15 different people who say they have found a cure,” Mark said. “All Charlie is saying is, ‘If there is anything I can do to help, I’m willing to put my life at risk.’”

Sheen told Dr. Mehmet Oz that although his “cocktail” of HIV meds had kept his viral load at undetectable levels for more than three years, he opted for the Mexican treatment because of unpleasant side effects.

“I’ve been off my meds for about a week now,” he said to Dr. Oz. “Am I risking my life? Sure. So what? I was born dead. That part of it doesn’t faze me at all.”
