Celine quit her Las Vegas act for a year to devote herself to René, who was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 — and had another tumor removed in 2013.
When she returned to Vegas on Aug. 27, René was hooked up to a feeding tube and was too ill to attend. He watched on a special live TV feed at their home.
Brave René, 73, died peacefully at the couple’s Las Vegas home on Jan. 14.
“René’s final wish was to die in Celine’s arms, and she granted him that wish,” says the source.

Rene guided Celine’s career since she was a teen as her manager and mentor — and ultimately her soulmate!
He was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999, and had another tumor removed in 2013.
René was surrounded by family when he passed.
His three children with Celine — René-Charles, 14, and 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy — were present, along with his adult children from a previous relationship.
