Blake Shelton is haunted by the death of his older brother, Richie — and the tragedy could mean heartbreak for his new love, Gwen Stefani, said sources!
“Blake’s never gotten over Richie’s death,” claimed an insider.
“He was just 14 when Richie perished and he was devastated.
“He idolized Richie. He spent hours listening to Richie’s record collection, hoping his brother would walk back in the door.
“But that didn’t happen — and the huge void in his life is still there.
“He learned very young life can be gone in an instant, and that’s spurred him to success. He’s determined to make the best life for himself while he can.
“Sadly, that’s led to two divorces already!”
Shelton, 39, went public about his romance with fellow “Voice” coach Stefani, 46, in October, after he divorced Miranda Lambert and Gwen called it quits with Gavin Rossdale.
“Blake seems happier than ever with Gwen,” said the source.
“But pals worry she’s heading for heartbreak. They believe Blake has a commitment problem.
He seems to fear losing someone he loves again, so he somehow sabotages relationships so he can move on.
Gwen could be next!”
Blake paid tribute to Richie on the 25th anniversary of his death Nov. 13, saying, “He’s still my hero.”
Richie, 24, his girlfriend, Redena McManus, 24, and her son, Christopher, 3, died in Ada, Okla., in 1990, after a freak car crash.
“My father said, ‘You will never, ever, get over this,’ and he was right,” admitted Blake.
