MENTALLY-TROUBLED former child star Amanda Bynes seems to be following in the footsteps of Britney Spears – at her worst!
“Her case is eerily similar to what happened to Britney five years ago,” said a close source. “Whereas Britney shaved her head and attacked a photographer with an umbrella, Amanda set an old lady’s driveway on fire!”
Her parents are reportedly concerned the former Nickelodeon star, 27, has been showing signs of schizophrenia, and she was placed in a psychiatric facility in Ventura, Calif. Britney also was taken to a mental ward during her headline-making meltdown in 2008.
The ENQUIRER has obtained a shocking photo of Amanda hiding under a white sheet as she’s wheeled between buildings by staff at the center.
The “ALL THAT” star also made headlines when she claimed to have taken a cab from New York to California and then made a fire in the driveway of 73-year-old Bonnie Braaten’s home in Thousand Oaks.
Now her terrified parents have gone to court to seek a temporary conservatorship – just like Britney’s parents once did after a series of increasingly crazed incidents in 2007 and 2008, including a much-publicized visit to a salon where the pop tart shaved her head.
Back in 2007, an insider told The ENQUIRER that after getting rid of her hair, “Britney had a complete breakdown and tried to kill herself. At one point she was spotted trying to walk into oncoming traffic.”
Now, Amanda’s parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, are trapped in a similar nightmare. They stated in their filing for temporary conservatorship that their daughter poses “a substantial risk to herself and others.”
Bynes was already facing drug charges in New York, where she’d gone to court wearing multicolored wigs. She also trashed her room in the city’s Ritz-Carlton hotel, racking up $9,000 in charges. Meanwhile, she’s burned through a staggering $1.4 million of her $4 million fortune in just months, according to court papers.
“Amanda has been going down the same road as Britney,” said the source. “Britney seems to have gotten back on track. It remains to be seen if Amanda can do the same.”
