Best buds Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are dueling over the role of a lifetime – playing blue-eyed superstar Paul Newman in a new biopic.
The acting legend was an inspiration to the Boston-raised stars and they both want the lead.
“It’s not like this is going to end their friendship, but they’re trying to figure out a fair way to see who gets the role,” said a pal.
“Ben wants to play poker for it, but Matt knows Ben is the better player.
"So Matt is suggesting chess, but Ben knows Matt has the edge there.
"So for now they’re at an impasse.”
While Ben hopes the flick will focus on Paul’s charity work, the source said: “Matt wants a lot of racing because he wants to get behind the wheel!”
