Bill Cosby’s Latest Attack: Hitting Women With Lawsuit!

Cosby lawsuit square

Trumpeting his status as a respected international comic icon and philanthropist, accused serial molester Bill Cosby has filed a lawsuit against seven of the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct, dismissing their claims as transparent attempts to cash in on his fame.

Of the dozens of accusers who have come forward to tell their sordid stories, Cosby singled out Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie, according to the suit.

Cosby’s complaint claims the women made “malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct against him.” He also claims each defendant “knowingly published false statements and accusations.”

The lawsuit holds Cosby up as a trailblazing African American actor who, as star of “The Cosby Show,” became a man of “transformative cultural impact” and a “philanthropist dedicated to promoting social justice issues with his involvement and contributions to causes from education to sickle cell anemia.”

After citing a list of Cosby’s awards and accomplishments, the suit goes in for the kill.

“Relying solely on unsubstantiated accusations … (the women) have engaged in a campaign to assassinate Mr. Cosby’s reputation and character by willfully, maliciously, and falsely accusing Mr. Cosby of multi-decade-old purported sexual misconduct,” according to the suit.

Cosby’s complaint then blames the victims for waiting to make their cases.

“(The) purported events supposedly took place over multiple decades ago, by their own admissions none of them filed a report with law enforcement regarding their stories nor have any of them asserted any civil claims for relief based on their own stories of sexual misconduct.”

The suit claims the women only decided to lodge complaints in 2014, after Cosby was set to return to TV with a new show, prompting the women to “repeatedly and maliciously (publish) their unsubstantiated stories through multiple interviews and posts on social media platforms.”

The complaint explains, “Mr. Cosby brings these counterclaims to redress the injury and damages caused by … Defendants’ malicious and unlawful conduct.”

Finally, Cosby’s lawsuit individually denies the accusations made by each of the women, maintaining, “At all relevant times, Mr. Cosby enjoyed the respect, confidence and esteem of his neighbors, as well as others in the community.”

Outrageously, Cosby claims to be the victim of these proceedings:

“As a result of … Defendants’ intentional, extreme, outrageous, and morally repugnant conduct, Mr. Cosby has suffered and continues to suffer from severe emotional distress including, but not limited to, tarnish of reputation and public image, shame, mortification, hurt feelings, and shock and harm to his peace of mind by … Defendants’ intentional invasion of Mr. Cosby’s mental and emotional tranquility.”

In return, he is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages as well as court costs.
