A “celebrity” zebra named Ed was captured and airlifted to an animal trailer in Tennessee after being on the run for more than a week, authorities said.

Ed, a pet zebra, was acquired by his owner on May 30, and was reported missing the very next day, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Ed caused chaos on a busy highway shortly after running away, but disappeared into the woods. Since then, he has been photographed throughout the area as authorities have tried and failed to capture him.

“He became an international sensation through social media memes throughout the country,” the sheriff’s office said.

On Sunday, Ed was located in a pasture located near the Buchanan Estates subdivision near Interstate 24 in Christiana, just south of Murfreesboro. The sheriff’s office responded to the scene along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

A video shared by the sheriff’s office shows the runaway zebra held aloft in a sling as he was airlifted by helicopter to a waiting animal trailer. He was later returned to his owner.
