Authorities in Colorado learned the hard way that not all felines are impressed by laser pointers after they tried using laser lights to lure a bobcat out of a resident’s home last week.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of an unusual intruder at a home in Ken Caryl, a suburb southwest of Denver, on Thursday, May 22: a bobcat. The wild feline had “wandered” into the home and “cozied up behind the TV.”

“Our deputies thought outside the box — trying their TASERs green lasers to coax it out,” the sheriff’s office said. “Cats and dogs chase laser pointers, but this bobcat was not impressed.”

A video shared by the sheriff’s office shows the deputies arriving and becoming as shocked as the resident upon seeing the bobcat on a shelf by the TV.

Deputies can be seen shining their lasers, but the bobcat doesn’t make a single move or show interest.

“It’s not a normal cat,” one deputy says.

“Cats are all the same,” another deputy says. “They all like the same thing.”

“You guys are hilarious,” the resident says.

The bobcat ultimately left “on its own terms,” the sheriff’s office said. “It left at its own pace, right out the open back door. Guess some intruders just arent dazzled by our high-tech tricks.”
