A nine-months pregnant mother was raped and killed by the doctor who met her for sex.
According to Ohio prosecutors, the murder victim Deanna Ballman and her unborn child, were killed after the Bellman answered a Craigslist posting $200 to sleep with Ali Salim.
Prosecutor Kyle Rohrer said Ballman, 23, moving home to Ohio from Colorado, leaving her husband and trying to support two prior children while pregnant with the third.
She was said to be in dire financial straits and may have turned to prostitution as a way to make “easy money”, it was alleged.
According to court documents, Salim, a former doctor in Pakistan, used Craigslist extensively to meet sexual partners, with multiple hints in his posts to allegedly trade drugs for sex.
The court filing said many of the young women were drug-addicted prosties, with several alleging they were drugged against their will. Others claimed to be sexually assaulted.
Salim also reportedly wrote prescriptions for hard drugs for women with whom he had sex, cops say, and that he also scored heroin that he dispensed to his many sexual partners who visited his upscale lair.
Salim's attorney, Sam Shamansky, claimed the victim, Ballman, was a just prostitute feeding a drug habit.
Prosecutor Kyle Roher countered in the filing, saying that Salim “furnished and administered heroin to a young lady who was nine months pregnant, a young lady who, by his own admission, declined even a glass of wine”.
Toxicology reports revealed Ballman, who died of a heroin overdose, also had morphine and codeine in her blood at the time of death.
The filing also alleges that Salim, a ER physician, neglected his duty to help Ballman as she lay stricken in the throes of a heroin overdose.
“'Without regard for mother or child, he dumped their bodies in a remote location as if he was taking out his trash,” the filing said.
Ballman’s body was discovered found in the backseat of her car hidden in woods outside New Albany, Ohio on Aug. 1, 2013.
Salim has plead “not guilty to two counts of murder — that of Ballman and her unborn baby. He also denies rape, felonious assault, corrupting another with drugs, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
