Mother who blogged on social media about her sick son’s struggle against death has now been charged with his murder!

Lacey Spears, 26,  of Scottsville, Ky., was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.

Spears plead not guilty to the charges, following an investigation into the death of her 5-year-old on son, Garnett.

On January 23,  Garrnet who was in in a Westchester County children’s hospital died suddenly from a mysterious sodium poisoning.

Spears,  an avid user of social media including Facebook  chronicled her son’s short life with emo-posts that she shared with her many followers. Her final post read, “Garnett the great journeyed onward today at 10:20 a.m.”

Authorities suspect Spears deliberately poisoned her son with sodium at least twice.

Cops say that on one occasion, Spears secretly pumped sodium into her son’s stomach through a tube inside a private hospital bathroom, Assistant District Attorney Doreen Lloyd charged in court.

“This mother was intentionally feeding her son salt in toxic levels,” the ADA said.

Investigators say that computer records revealed that Spears had searched the internet, researching the effects salt might have on her ailing son, ADA Lloyd said.

Spears surrendered, walking into Westchester County Police Headquarters with her head bowed.

Prosecutors have been probing the case after Garnett’s death was ruled a homicide by the Westchester County medical examiner on April 30.

Prosecutors believe  believe that Spears may suffer from “Munchausen by proxy”, a weird mental disorder that might cause a parent to deliberatly make their child sick in order to get sympathy from others.

Capt. Christopher Calabrese, commander of the Westchester County Police Detective Division told media, “This is a very sad day for everyone, but it is a day for justice.  Justice for the betrayal of the intimate trust between a mother and child, justice for a mother’s continual abuse and death of her innocent child for her own selfish psychological needs and financial gain; justice for Garnett.”

Spears faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison on the murder rap and up to 25 years for manslaughter.
