NICHOLAS HARTMANN killed his wife with a baseball bat – then coolly went back to work at the Home Depot like nothing happened!
“He’s inhuman,” said a law enforcement official. “He killed her while she slept – as if it was nothing – and she’s the mother of his two children.”
The horrific crime unfolded May 15 in Bradenton, Fla., when Hartmann, 39, came home from his job at Home Depot at 9:30 a.m. He found his wife Alisa, 38, still asleep in the master bedroom. Grabbing an aluminum baseball bat, he bashed her in the head repeatedly, leaving her for dead.
Then, cool as a cucumber, he went back to resume his duties at Home Depot!
Later that morning, Kristen Stela, a friend who was dropping off her children to be watched by Alisa, found her bloody body sprawled on the bed and immediately called the cops.
Manatee County Sheriff ’s detectives arrived at 11.45 a.m., and were processing the grisly scene when Hartmann came home.
“He arrived at a high rate of speed of speed and jumped out of his vehicle with a beer in his hand,” said a police source. “He shouted, ‘I did it. I want to die. Kill me now!’”
He told detectives he killed Alisa by striking her in the back of the head. He gave no reason for the deadly bludgeoning but admitted having booze and drug problems.
Sheriff ’s officials say they have no record of any previous domestic situations at the home. The couple’s two sons – Dylan, 15, and Bryce, 8 – were being looked after by family members.
Hartmann was arrested and charged with murder. While awaiting trial, he’s being held at the Manatee County Jail with no bond.
