A mistrial was declared in the sentencing of JODI ARIAS after a jury deadlocked on whether the convicted killer should be executed or imprisoned for life after slaughtering her lover.

As The ENQUIRER previously reported Arias was convicted of shooting Alexander in the head and then slitting his throat.

The decision removes the death penalty as an option.

Victim Travis Alexander’s family was present when the judge said the jurors couldn’t make a decision. They left the courthouse sobbing.

This was the second time a jury was unable to reach a decision on Arias’ punishment.

Prosecutors had argued for the death penalty during the nearly seven-year legal battle.

Now, the judge in the case must make the decision solely whether to condemn Arias to life in prison or grant a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
