Georgia officials remain baffled by the suicide of a young woman who shot herself with a gun owned by her sheriff’s deputy boyfriend after they had sex.

A statewide investigation is still probing the mysterious shooting death of Nicole “Nikki” Guined, 20, a supermarket cashier from Monroe, Ga.

Her boyfriend, Walton County Deputy Sheriff Dwight Buchanan, 20, told cops on Dec. 10 that she killed herself in their bed after a night of drinking, fighting and sex.

Evidence suggested a night of wild partying as beer cans were strewn about the home they shared, police said.

Despite calling him the “absolute best boyfriend” on Facebook, Nikki reportedly vowed to leave him the next morning during a spat fueled by booze.

By dawn the couple seemed to have made up. Nikki posted a smiling Instagram pic of the two captioned, “Even when he’s drunk he’s the cutest guy I’ve ever met.”

Buchanan later told cops they were still in bed getting “intimate” when Nikki began pleading for his 9mm Glock.

“She then asked him to load the pistol,” investigating Deputy J. Ricks wrote in his report.

“[Buchanan] … loaded it with a magazine and chambered a round. He then removed the magazine and gave it back to Nikki. She then placed the muzzle of the gun under her right jaw and pulled the trigger.”

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said it was unclear if the shooting was accidental or not. “Alcohol was involved. You just don’t know what led up to it. We don’t know what she was thinking,” he said.

Sheriff Chapman then passed the case onto the Georgia Bureau of Investigations because it involved a member of his force – Deputy Buchanan had been toiling at the county jail for the past 13 months.

Buchanan remains suspended from his duties while the investigation continues.

While the completed autopsy confirmed Nikki died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a GBI investigator told The ENQUIRER the case remains unsolved – for now.
