A New Jersey Florist’s thievery operation wilted — just like the roses she was stealing!

Lynda Windgate, owner of nearby “LynCrafts & Floral Designs Florist & Gift Shoppe” was arrested for allegedly stealing plants from graves at a New Jersey cemetery over a period of months!

Area police said they have been receiving consistent complains of the thefts at First Reformed Church Cemetery which spiked after the recent Easter and Passover holidays.

They set up a sting operation by replacing two of the missing plants in front of a mausoleum and installed surveillance cameras across from its location.

They were notified the plants were missing again two days later.

Surveillance footage from the cameras revealed a silver minivan pull up in front of the mausoleum at night.

A middle-aged woman emerged from the driver’s seat, grabbed the two plants and drove off!

At the time of her arrest, Wingate claimed she was cleaning up old flowers from the graves of people she knew — but authorities didn’t buy it!

Windgate, a former police dispatcher, was charged with “theft of moveable property” and was released on the misdemeanor offense, but is due to appear in municipal court.

It is unknown if she had resold any of the flowers she had stolen or if any had been recovered.
