In an ENQUIRER special investigation, we REVEAL the dark secrets the American wife of the Boston bombing mastermind was hiding.
As the FBI probes the exact details of what Katherine Russell Tsarnaev the widow of Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, knew about the sinister attack, The ENQUIRER has uncovered a secret arrest in the 24-year-old woman’s past that may be linked to her evil husband.
“Tamerlan had an iron-clad grip on Katherine,” a friend in her native Rhode Island told The ENQUIRER. “He turned her from an innocent all-American girl into a terrorist bride – and she may unwittingly be hiding information that’s vital to national security.”
While Katherine’s attorney Amato DeLuca insists she knew nothing about the bomb plot, in an exhaustive investigation The ENQUIRER discovered that although she reportedly met Tsarnaev as a Suffolk University student in Boston, she previously claimed to be married to him.
According to an arrest report obtained by The ENQUIRER, then-18-year-old Katherine and an underage girlfriend were busted for shoplifting more than $67 worth of items from an Old Navy clothing store in Warwick, R.I., on June 26, 2007.
The police report lists Katherine as “married” even though she used her maiden name and gave her address as her parents’ home in North Kingstown, R.I.
Records show Katherine was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting, but the case was dismissed after she paid a $200 fine and completed community service.
“Katherine didn’t need to shoplift those items,” the source told The ENQUIRER. “It appears Tamerlan recruited her to do it as a test of her loyalty to him.”
The ENQUIRER has also learned Tamerlan dragged Katherine into an ugly love triangle that ended with a violent domestic assault.
