ESCAPED CON COLLARED BY CAPTAIN COLD!

After a daring escape from prison, a convict got MORE than the deep freeze!

Like out of an O. Henry story of a bygone era, the harsh cold winter winds make staying inside a priority for everyone – including an escaped Kentucky prisoner.

For escaped con Robert Vick a prison cell is a LOT better than dealing with the polar vortex, reports CBS affiliate WKYT

Vick, 42, escaped from a minimum security facility in Lexington, Ky. on Sunday where he was serving a six-year sentence for burglary concurrent with a five-year sentence for criminal possession of a forged instrument.

After his breakout, he only managed one day in the sub-zero elements before coolly realizing that there are far worse places to be than the proverbial slammer.

With the wind chill at 20 below zero on Monday, a frozen Vick walked into a local Sunset motel. Near numb from exposure, Vick begged the clerk at the desk to call the cops, Lexington police later told media.

After being given the once over by paramedics, Vick was remanded back to “the cooler” — custody at Blackburn Correctional Complex.
