A glimpse into the twisted mind of the “Dark Knight” shooter has been unveiled in court.

Copies of the personal notebook that former grad student James E. Holmes mailed to his psychiatrist were passed out to jurors in Colorado.

They were sent just hours before 12 people were killed and 70 wounded in an Aurora movie theater in July 2012.

“Rarely is there a case where a defendant gives the jury a journal of what’s going on in his head,” said David M. Beller, president of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.

While prosecutors entered the notebook into evidence, Holmes’ defense team intends to use it to prove that he is not guilty by reason of insanity.

“The notebook is extremely important to both sides,” David said. “The prosecution highlights its intricate detail, where the defense focuses on the incoherent ramblings.”

In one passage, Holmes, 27, rationally debated whether to attack an airport.

There are also pages filled with symbols and the single word, “Why?”

In one disturbing passage, he wrote: “The obsession to kill since I was a kid, with age became more and more realistic.”

Holmes reportedly picked the Century 16 Theater because he could lock its doors to maximize casualties. It was screening “The Dark Knight Rises.”
