A demented California man killed his own mother in cold blood — and then cut out her HEART!
That’s according to court documents that recount 31-year-old Omar Pettigen’s interview with Fremont cops.
They detail how shocked officers found Pettigen’s murdered mother, Nailah, 64, in a pool of blood on her back in her bedroom, with multiple gunshots to her head and body, an ax wound in her head and her heart placed on top of her gaping chest!
Pettigen told police his mother was “killing herself” with prescription painkillers and had been “treating him badly,” according to the documents.
In what’s being described as the bloodiest killing in Fremont’s history, officers followed up on a call from a New Mexico man who hadn’t heard from his ex-wife and son in some time.
They found a crime scene, including a bed soaked with blood, splattered walls and an ax, two knives and a gun next to the slain woman’s body.
“It’s a very, very upsetting case — there was blood everywhere,” said Fremont Police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.
Police believe Pettigen killed his mother Sept. 28, and in an interview with detectives, the accused man said simply “he was mad,” revealed Geneva.
Fremont police have had to offer support for the officers who discovered the scene, such was the brutality of the killing.
And Geneva herself said she has avoided seeing photographs of the aftermath due to the descriptions.
Known as a frequent world-traveler, Pettigen had recently returned from several months in Morocco, said Geneva.
The man told police in his interview after being captured that he’d spent two years living in South Korea, and lived on a marijuana farm in North California.
Pettigen had stopped at his mother’s apartment the day before her killing, said police, and in the time between the killing and his subsequent arrest, he booked a plane ticket to Chicago but never made the flight.
Instead, he left a blood-stained shirt in a San Francisco hotel room and went for drinks with an acquaintance.
The documents also reveal Pettigen admitted to killing his mother, a special ed teacher, and then masturbating in a nearby room.
He then took a shower, grabbed a bag and left.
Pettigen has been charged with murder with enhancements of intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury and use of a deadly weapon.
He was also charged with a count of desecrating human remains, and held without bail.
