Criminal investigators have identified a possible motive for murder and a suspect in the tragedy of Bobbi Kristina Brown, The National ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

According to a law enforcement source close to the case, cops are pursuing the theory that Bobbi Kristina’s hot-tempered live-in love, Nick Gordon, blew up when she announced plans to dump him, and pursue a singing and acting career in California.

“That was Nick Gordon’s motive for murder!” the source claimed to The ENQUIRER.

“If Bobbi Kristina left Nick, it would have destroyed everything he had. Nick was living a lie, telling the world he was Bobbi Kristina’s husband when in fact they were never married.

“On top of that, Nick was living off Bobbi Kristina’s money. Without her, he’d have nothing. There’s no question Nick didn’t want Bobbi Kristina to leave him. He may have never intended to kill her, but no doubt they argued.”

Authorities now have witnesses who can confirm Whitney Houston’s 22-year-old daughter wanted to flee Gordon, the source said.

One witness is Bobbi Kristina’s close friend, Sarah “Bess” Beckmann, an up-and-coming singer who splits her time between Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Bess is the last person known to have communicated with Bobbi Kristina before she was found unresponsive face down in a water-filled bathtub in the Roswell, Ga., townhouse she shared with Gordon, 26, on Jan. 31.

“Sarah I miss and need you,” Bobbi Kristina tweeted to Bess on Jan. 29.

That same day, Bobbi Kristina seemed excited about leaving Gordon, tweeting, “Let’s start this career up & moving OUT to To You ALLLL quick shall we.”

She also sent tweets to rapper Wiz Khalifa and singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.

On the day she was found, Bobbi Kristina was supposed to meet “someone” – possibly Bess – to discuss a “revelation” about Gordon, but she never showed up, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed against him by Bobbi Kristina’s family.

The court documents, obtained by The ENQUIRER, claim: “[Bobbi Kristina] Brown had confided to someone that defendant [Gordon] was not the man she thought he was and set up a time on January 31, 2015 to meet with this person to further discuss this revelation.

“Brown, however, never made it to the meeting.”

Bess posted a Facebook message June 26, calling Gordon a “monster,” and urging pals to cooperate with prosecutors.

“Those of us who know Nick Gordon personally know what a monster he really is, and if you are contacted to testify against him, you need to make a stand,” she wrote. “We’re going to take you down.”

Bess also posted four photos of herself with Bobbi Kristina, and wrote in a June 26 Twitter message: “There WILL be justice for my sister, if the judicial system doesn’t take care of it, karma will.”
