THE RUINATION OF ANGEL STAR DELLA REESE

"Touched by an Angel" star DELLA REESE’s world is falling apart!

With her spirit and bank account shattered – and the IRS reportedly probing her church’s finances – the beloved star is at risk of losing her home.

Los Angeles County Court records – newly uncovered by The ENQUIRER – reveal that the 80-year-old entertainer and her husband, Franklin Lett, 74, owe more than $20,000 for two years of property taxes for their palatial Bel-Air, Calif., estate.

To make matters worse, attendance at Della’s Understanding Principles for Better Living church has plummeted, and The ENQUIRER learned that the church’s board of directors in Chicago will be meeting to discuss Della’s predicament.

“It used to be standing room only in Della’s church,” an insider said.

Her close celeb pals including Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Gladys Knight and Ben Vereen regularly showed up on Sundays.

“These days if there are a total of 65 people in church, that’s a good day,” the insider said.

“It’s all such a tragedy– Della and Franklin may very soon find themselves without a church!”

In our July 18 issue, The ENQUIRER reported Della had acknowledged that $1.5 million disappeared from church coffers, and we then learned that based on our report, the IRS had begun to question employees.

Della claimed the missing money was squandered by two former employees who had been cashing church checks and using church credit cards. She said she informed the congregation of the theft, but “decided not to drag the church through all that” by prosecuting.

But Della’s former executive assistant Billie Hall, who turned whistleblower, told The ENQUIRER that Della never told the congregation the money was missing.

“I know she invested in a lot of projects Franklin came up with that didn’t pan out,” said Hall.

“Della loves money, and she shops until she drops. Her home is filled with jewelry, furs and cash. It doesn’t make sense to me that she can’t pay her taxes.”
