TOM TAKES SURI TO WORK

Taking a whack at chillin' his "wacko" image, TOM CRUISE - not Hollywood's most bankable star after his "Lions for Lambs" flop and rumors that Nazi flick "Valkyrie" is a straight-to-video stinker - raised eyebrows at Disney Studios when he showed up for a heavy-duty business meeting with Chairman DICK COOK...and waltzed in with tiny daughter SURI in tow! Said a Disney source: "People were very much taken aback. They saw it as a ploy by Tom to soften his image and show that, 'Hey, I'm Disney material, a normal family man.'

Tom's United Artists is struggling mightily and he's looking for partnerships and funding." Ploy or not, Disney execs fawned over kewpie Suri! Said the source: "Naturally, people were curious about her, so she kind of served as an ice-breaker." (And gave KATIE HOLMES a CruiseControl break!)
