SHIRLEY TEMPLE BLACK AND BLUE

Beloved child star and U.S. ambassador  Shirley Temple Black, celebrated her 80th birthday with a bust.
The former curly tressed moptop  broke her arm.

With her optimistic personality and natural screen grace Shirley Temple  boosted a depressed nation’s morale  during the turbulent 1930s with such classics as Good Ship Lollipop, Little Miss Marker and Stand Up and Cheer.

In her teens, she starred with Cary Grant in The Bachelor and The Bobby Soxer and John Ford’s western
Fort Apache.  After a run at Congress in 1967 was unsuccessful Black became a diplomat serving as ambassador to Ghana  and Czechoslovakia.        

About her accident Black remarked with a twinkle in her eye, “People should turn on the lights when they are walking around in the dark.”
