After five years of freedom, Jaycee Dugard has yet to contact her biological father,
The National ENQUIRER has learned. Heartbroken Kenneth Slayton hasn’t seen his now 34-year-old daughter or two young grandchildren born during Jaycee’s 18 hellish years of captivity in pervert Phillip Garrido’s backyard.
And in an emotional plea, Kenneth is now begging his daughter to reach out to him. “I’ve made myself known (to her) so if she elected to see me, she knows where I’m at,” Kenneth, 68, told The ENQUIRER.
Jaycee was abducted at age 11 while walking to her school bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., on June 10, 1991.Kenneth was unaware of the abduction until FBI agents showed up on his doorstep.
A massive search effort was launched, but Kenneth has admitted he never participated.
Despite relentless efforts to find her, Jaycee remained imprisoned on Garrido’s property, and eventually gave birth to the evil monster’s two daughters.
All three were finally freed after Garrido, a convicted sexual predator, took them to a meeting with his parole officer on Aug. 26, 2009.
Kenneth says he tried to re-enter his daughter’s life at that point, but authorities rebuffed him.
“They cited some back child support,” he told The ENQUIRER. “At that point it was like turning the switch off. I said enough is enough.”
Jaycee and her daughters, 16 and 20, now live out of the public eye in an undisclosed California location.
Recently she was seen accepting a heroism award from Oprah Winfrey in March 2013, and in May 2013, she appeared with her mother at the Hope Awards gala in Washington, D.C.
Garrido and his wife, Nancy, are both serving life in prison for Jaycee’s abduction and rape.
Meanwhile, Kenneth longs to reunite with his long-lost daughter.
“It would be very nice to have a big family reunion,” his wife, Jamie, 56, told The ENQUIRER. “Jaycee has three sisters and a brother, and we would like to open our arms to her.”
