It’s the star-spanning feud that’s lasted nearly 50 years as "The King of Meme" Takei slams Shat the Man!
“Star Trek the Original Series” may have been off the air since 1968 (not counting 6 original cast movies) but George “Sulu” Takei and William “Cap'n Kirk” Shatner are still at it! At least, George is.
Guesting on Real Time with Bill Maher, Takei, 77, who played Hikaru Sulu on the classic SF drama is still twitchy and resentful, taking aim dead center with photon torpedoes at Shatner, 83.
Takei dissed Bill for being "self-centered", claiming that’s why he kept Shatner in the dark about his homosexuality.
"At the end of the week (we) have our wrap parties and they (the Star Trek cast and crew) bring their wives and husbands and boyfriends or girlfriends, and I quite regularly brought 'a buddy,'" George explained to host Bill Maher.
"My colleagues did know but they were cool about it because they knew that if I made a public statement about it or made it very obvious, then my career would be destroyed," he continued. "But it just went right over his (Shatner’s) head. He was the only one that didn't know."
Takei still claims that the Pride of Canada, Shatner, was difficult to work with.
"Canadians have a certain image of being even-tempered and friendly and all that,” Takei elaborated. “Well, he is a person who is that way with himself. He is very self-centred.
"We work together and we're professionals, so we get the work done, but it's with a lot of difficulty."
On his highly prolific Twitter account, Shatner just ignored the whole thing, instead offering up a pic of himself as a potential Arrow cast member, saying “Dearest @CW_network if you are casting I think I have the skill set! @amellywood @RobbieAmell pic.twitter.com/vIWAsoBK7D ”
