We got the leaked deets about FARGO they DON’T want you to read!
AND YET.. “Fargo” fans – FX’s quirky hit will likely be back for another season!
Originally slated for just one 10-episode run ending June 17, the series – loosely based on the 1996 Coen Brothers film of the same name – has become one of the surprise TV hits of 2014.
Now, it’s being reported that FX execs will greenlight a second season, which will maintain the offbeat tone of the show but use different characters and plotlines.
“Fargo” features Billy Bob Thornton as menacing drifter Lorne Malvo, who’s passing through Bemidji, Minn., when he meets meek insurance salesman Lester Nygaard, played by “The Hobbit” star Martin Freeman...and manipulates him into committing murder. The series also stars Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks as cops who team up to solve a series of killings that may be linked to Malvo and Nygaard. Here are four interesting things about “Fargo” you probably didn’t know:
The show opens with the words: “This is a true story...” But the events depicted in “Fargo” are pure fiction.
To get that authentic lilting Minnesota accent, producers turned to veteran voice coach and character actor Tony Alcantar.
Hard-of-hearing hitman Mr. Wrench is played by deaf actor Russell Harvard and communicates with fellow killer Mr. Numbers (“Saving Private Ryan” star Adam Goldberg) through American Sign Language. Producers had to hire an ASL expert to coach Goldberg.
“Fargo” was first adapted for TV in 1997. But the pilot, starring Edie Falco and directed by Kathy Bates but it wasn’t picked up.
