“The View” ladies are giving co-host SHERI SHEPHERD their full support as her divorce and custody battles go from bad to worse!
Sherri, 47, has filed for divorce from her estranged hubby Lamar “Sal” Sally, but as The ENQUIRER recently reported, he’s fighting her for full custody of the child they’re expecting by a surrogate mother.
Meanwhile, her ex-husband Jeff Tarpley has now accused her of neglect of their special-needs son, and sources say Sherri’s “View” colleagues and friends Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck have vowed to defend her in court.
“Sherri is beside herself!” said a friend. “While she’s battling Sal, her estranged husband, she’s also facing a vicious attack from Jeff, her ex-husband! ‘The View’ women are so furious about this double whammy that they say that they’ll testify in court in Sherri’s defense if necessary. They love her and know that she’s a good mom to her son.”
As The ENQUIRER has reported, Sherri’s legal woes began when her estranged husband, TV writer Lamar “Sal” Sally, filed for legal separation and revealed in court papers that the couple expects a child via a surrogate in July. He’s demanding full custody of the unborn baby boy, named Lamar Sally Jr.
He’s also asked that Sherri be granted only visitation rights for the child, and that their prenuptial agreement be invalidated on grounds of fraud.
Sherri, who’s worth an estimated $10 million, married Sally in August 2011. She’s filed separately for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
In yet another shocker, Sherri has been slammed as an “unfit mother” by her ex-husband, comedian Jeff Tarpley.
Sherri – who joined “The View” gabfest in 2007 and has appeared on TV sitcoms “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “30 Rock” – married Tarpley in 2001. They split five years later after he admitted fathering a child with another woman.
The two share custody of their 9-year-old son, Jeffrey Jr. But in court papers, Tarpley claims Sherri is so career-oriented she leaves “unskilled nannies” to raise him. Tarpley also claims Jeffrey has fallen behind in school, suffers from low self-esteem and wears Velcro shoes because he still can’t tie laces. If a court finds Tarpley’s charges are true, it could negatively impact the custody case involving Sherri’s unborn child, said a celebrity divorce attorney, who is not involved in Sherri’s legal issues. “No judge is going to want an infant placed in a single parent household where that person is already being questioned as a qualified caregiver,” the New York City-based lawyer told The ENQUIRER. “It’s put Sherri in a difficult situation.”
Despite her mounting legal woes, “Sherri has the love and support of her colleagues on ‘The View,’” another source told The ENQUIRER.
“Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Whoopi Goldberg are all standing by her side.”
