GOLF great Tiger Woods is livid that ex-wife Elin teed off on him in her college commencement speech, insiders say.
The cheating scandal that ended their marriage came “right after I had taken Communication and the Media,” the Swedish-born bombshell told the graduation day crowd at Florida’s Rollins College.
“I was unexpectedly thrust into the media limelight. I probably should have taken more notes in that class.”
Her comment sparked laughter – and left Tiger steaming, said the source. “When Tiger heard that the audience laughed at Elin’s crack, he was furious,” said the insider.
“He told Elin that it was a cheap shot, and he thought she was better than that. But Elin didn’t react. She’s got money, two great kids and a college education. Tiger can’t push her buttons anymore.”
Elin, 34, earned a degree in psychology with a 3.98 grade point average. She was chosen the school’s “outstanding graduating senior” and was invited to speak at the May 10 commencement ceremony.
“When I entered my student advisor office in the fall of 2005, I was 25 years old. I had just recently moved to America. I was married without children,” she told the crowd. “Today, nine years later, I’m a proud American and I have two beautiful children.”
After a beat, she added: “But I’m no longer married,” as the audience laughed. “Elin never mentioned Tiger’s name, but he was like the elephant in the room,” said the insider. “Tiger told her that she made him the butt of a joke without even mentioning his name, and it really bothered him.”
Elin took a semester off after the birth of each of her children – daughter Sam, 6, and son Charlie, 5.
The children, along with her father and current beau, billionaire Chris Cline, attended the graduation ceremony.
Elin’s marriage blew up over Thanksgiving weekend 2009 when she chased Tiger out of their $2.4 million Florida home with a golf club after The ENQUIRER exposed his affair with party girl Rachel Uchitel.
Elin was awarded $110 million in their divorce, and has since built a $20 million waterfront mansion in North Palm Beach, Fla. Meanwhile, even though Tiger is steadily dating ski champ Lindsey Vonn, “he’s confessed to close pals that he still loves Elin,” said the source. “Tiger always thought he caould charm Elin into getting back together with him. But with her newfound confidence, that possibility seems long gone.”
