Hollywood great MICKEY ROONEY gone at 93.
The legendary Rooney passed after after spending his entire life in show biz.
Born Joseph Yule, Jr. in Brooklyn the street-wise son of vaudevillian began working as as Mickey McGuire, Rooney was quickly snatched up by MGM which propelled him to stardom with the series of popular Andy Hardy films.
Among his memorable bit parts prior to super-stardom was as Puck in Warner's lavish big screen adaptation of "A Midsummer's Night Dream" in 1935.
Mickey’s breakthrough role was in “Boy’s Town" with Spencer Tracy in 1938 which opened shortly before his 18th B-day.
Metro quickly teamed Mickey with their other teen star Judy Garland propelling the duo into cinematic history with their first musical hit “Babes in Arms”.
Not only was Rooney a hit with movie auds he was dynamite with the ladies racking up a total of 8 wives including sex siren Ava Gardner.
“Always get married early in the morning,” Mickey said in an interview. “That way, if it doesn't work out, you haven't wasted a whole day.”
As The ENQUIRER reported recently Mickey had been at the center of an elder abuse case against his step-son which ended with a confidential settlement.
During his long and checkered 200 plus film career Mick won a Juvenile Academy Award, an Honorary Oscar, two Golden Globes and an Emmy.
