CHICAGO FIRE” star Monica Raymund outed herself as bisexual – and that’s just fine with her hubby!
The 27-year-old raven-haired beauty, who plays tough-as-nails paramedic/firefighter-in-training Gabriela Dawson on the hit NBC show, sprung the news on the Internet. She was spurred to action after a Norwegian sporting goods chain released a video that features two women kissing to protest Russia’s anti-gay policies during the Winter Olympics.
“So proud to be Bi and excited about this movement during Olympics,” she tweeted on Feb. 9.
Meanwhile, Monica’s husband, writer/director Neil Patrick Stewart, whom she married in 2011, is “fully supportive,” said an insider.
“Monica has never hid her bisexuality from Neil, or any of her friends or family,” the insider continued. “In fact, she’s always been vocal about her support of the lesbian, gay and transgender community.
“Monica kept her bisexuality relatively low-key publicly out of respect for Neil, and because she didn’t want to draw ‘Chicago Fire’ into a heated social debate.
“But Monica and Neil had a long discussion about the gay rights issue in Russia, and Neil actually encouraged Monica to come out.
“She felt the timing was right to speak up.” “Chicago Fire,” which debuted on NBC in 2012, follows the often-complicated personal and professional lives of the Chicago Fire Department’s firefighters and paramedics. Prior to her gig on the drama, Monica had a recurring role as assistant state’s attorney Dana Lodge on “The Good Wife.”
Regarding his wife’s sexuality, “Neil understands that before they hooked up, Monica dated women, and if they break up, she probably will again,” the source added.
“But right now they have a monogamous marriage.”
