Star prosecution witness and mafia princess LINDA GOTTI dumped for the second time in the racketeering and murder trial of a reputed Gambino crime boss, The ENQUIRER has learned.
Attorneys for defendant Bartolomeo Vernace, who is on trial for racketeering and murder, sent Gotti packing April 2 from Federal Court in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The niece of Mafia Kingpin, the late crime czar John Gotti, Linda Gotti is ALSO the daughter of John's older brother, former capo Peter Gotti, who is serving a lengthy prison stretch.
A source familiar with the racketeering and murder case said that Linda apparently has a possible vendetta toward other members of the notorious Gotti crime family. She had hoped that by testifying against Vernace, she could distance herself from La Famigila proper.
Gotti had initially appeared VERY interested in speaking to the court, the source said.
Feds put Gotti on as a standby witness sequestered in the courthouse three weeks ago.
But prosecutors were reluctant to let her testify after another key witness, a bartender, who eye-balled the double homicide, hammered home the case for prosecutors, sources said.
Ironically, more than 30 years ago, Linda had witnessed the fatal shooting of her then boyfriend John D'Agnese, who was splattered all over the Shamrock Bar by gunfire along with co-owner Richard Godkin over a so-called spilled drink incident.
But, after first identifying the alleged killers, Gotti back-tracked, recanting her eyewitness account of how her boyfriend was mowed down.
Linda told feds, shortly after the murders, she was advised by a key family member who told her she didn’t have to testify if she did not want to, the source said.
Linda has also claimed to be utterly clueless of her father Peter Gotti’s ties to Cosa Nostra until the late 1980s, which seemed “utterly absurd”, the source added.
Insiders told The ENQUIRER, feds were more than happy to prosecute Vernace without Little Miss Gotti and are confident of a conviction on the racketeering and homicide charges.
