SHIRLEY MACLAINE’s daughter has written a shocking tell-all about her painful childhood – and the Oscar-winning actress is terrified that the book will make her look like “Mommie Dearest”!
The 78-year-old “Terms of Endearment” star’s only child, daughter Sachi Parker, 56, pulled no punches while penning “Lucky Me: My Life With – and Without – My Mom, Shirley MacLaine,” a source told The ENQUIRER.
As the sarcastic title suggests, the memoir is said to paint a picture of Shirley as a cold, uninvolved, disinterested mother who abandoned her toddler because she wanted to party with The Rat Pack and “didn’t want a kid on her hands.”
“This book is Shirley’s worst nightmare,” noted the source.
“She’s never had a great relationship with Sachi, and you can bet that this book will be the final nail in the coffin for Shirley.”
Not only is Shirley afraid of having the lid ripped off her shortcomings as a parent, the source says she’s afraid the book will spawn a film that will depict her in the same unflattering way Joan Crawford was portrayed by Faye Dunaway in 1981’s “Mommie Dearest.”
In the memoir, which is slated to be released on Feb. 7, Sachi writes that Shirley sent her to live with her father, film producer Steve Parker, in Japan when she was just 2, so Shirley could continue her partying lifestyle.
Sachi, a divorced mom of two, endured several abusive relationships that she partially blames on her tough childhood and absentee mom.
And despite Shirley’s international stardom and TinselTown connections (like her brother director/star WARREN BEATTY), Sachi struggled to get by as an actress, taking bit parts in films like “Back to the Future” and “Peggy Sue Got Married.”
“Shirley is going to come across as the cold and distant mother that her daughter remembers,” added the source.
“It’s certainly not going to be the perfect Hollywood ending.”
